About

H-E-B Big League Weekend is an annual two-game Major League Baseball spring training exhibition hosted at the iconic Alamodome in downtown San Antonio. The event was created through a partnership with Nolan Ryan, the Texas Rangers, Ryan Sanders Baseball, the San Antonio Missions and the city of San Antonio. In addition to the two games each year, there are several other events surrounding the weekend that make it special for any baseball fan.

Turning the Alamodome into a baseball facility is no easy task. Ryan Sanders Baseball collaborates with AstroTurf to build a 133,000 square-foot custom field for the Alamodome floor. In addition to the turf, 300 cubic yards of dirt is brought in each year for the base around the infield. Custom dugouts, bullpens, netting and walls are also installed.

In its first four years the event has welcomed over 240,000 baseball fans to this unique setting in the Alamo City. The timing of the exhibition series will coincide with spring break, an exciting time to come to San Antonio. It will offer visitors not only exciting baseball with H-E-B Big League Weekend, but also the 5 Time World Champion San Antonio Spurs, season openings at SeaWorld San Antonio and all the great attractions and events for which the city is known.

The 2017 edition of H-E-B Big League Weekend will feature the American League Central Division Champion Cleveland Indians vs. the American League West Division Champion Texas Rangers on March 17 and March 18.
